Reviewing Houston’s economy before COVID-19, the pandemic’s initial and ongoing impact on local industries, and the current employment outlook for 2021.

Speaker: 

 

Gabe Roel Martinez is Research Director at the Greater Houston Partnership (GHP). His analysis supports economic development and local public policy within the region, with a focus on growing Houston’s job base, encouraging capital investment, increasing international trade, and improving the regions’ quality of life. With more than ten years of experience in the field, Gabe has supported the creation of tens-of-thousands or direct and indirect jobs and billions in capital investment within the region.

He has earned the professional accreditations of Certified Economic Research Professional (CERP) from The Council for Community and Economic Research (C2ER), and Geographical Information System Professional (GISP) from the GIS Certification Institute (GISCI). Gabe received his Bachelors of Arts in International Economics & Finance from Austin College. And, acquired academic certificates in Geographic Information Science and Petroleum Engineering Technology.

Gabe currently serves on the board of directors for the Council for Community and Economic Research (C2ER) and Family Services of Greater Houston. He is a proud native Texan and has lived in Houston for most of his life.
