Title: Philanthropy Across Cultures: The Questions We Don’t Ask

Description: A panel discussion on giving trends in communities of color, exploring how cultural values, lived experiences, and history shape philanthropy. Panelists will share practical insights on donor engagement, trust-building, and avoiding common missteps.

 Learning objectives:

By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

• Identify key cultural factors influencing giving behavior.
• Apply strategies to build authentic relationships with diverse donors.
• Recognize common blind spots in cross-cultural fundraising.

Chi-mei Lin, former Executive Director of the Chinese Community Center, Charlie Coleman, TSU Senior Associate Vice President, Mia Wright, Co-Pastor at Fountain of Praise Church, and and Misty Mousa-Lanza, Director of Corporate Relations, University of Houston.
