Mentorship Program

The Association of Fundraising Professionals - Greater Houston Chapter (AFP-GHC) Mentorship Program aims to unify and connect local fundraising professionals with opportunities to grow and enhance their careers.

There are numerous ways to create meaningful connections that go beyond a traditional mentor-mentee relationship of a formal structure and scheduled monthly meetings. We recognize that relationships built through other avenues can be just as valuable, including:

  • A one-time meeting/call about a specific area of interest or challenging work situation
  • Peer mentorship and “accountability buddies”
  • Affinity group discussions with others in similar work environments and/or those with similar identities
  • Job shadowing opportunities
  • Serving on a chapter committee that aligns with your professional interests and goals
  • Working with a current or former AFP-GHC board member to develop your path to chapter leadership
  • Connections to resources and learning opportunities

We seek to align with AFP-Global’s initiatives to connect and elevate historically marginalized communities including people from racial and ethnic minority groups; LGBTQ+ individuals; Emerging Leaders with 0-10 years of experience in the sector; differently abled and neurodiverse individuals; and anyone who has been unable to participate in AFP due to financial barriers.
