AFP Scholarship Spotlight: Abby Trahan, Development Officer I for Leadership Annual Giving, University of Houston Cullen College of Engineering
Funds raised at AFP Greater Houston’s National Philanthropy Day go right back into the community because they allow AFP Houston to invest in Houston’s nonprofit fundraising professionals. In this feature, we are highlighting Abby Trahan, Development Officer I for Leadership Annual Giving for the University of Houston. Abby has been working in fundraising for three years throughout the nonprofit sector. Prior to joining the University of Houston Advancement Team, she worked at the Houston Food Bank developing personal relationships with donors through mass communication. She has been involved with AFP since college as a member of the collegiate chapter and joined the Greater Houston chapter as soon as she could to take advantage of the continuing education opportunities. “As a collegiate chapter member I instantly knew the professional development value of an AFP membership,” Abby said. Because of the generosity of the AFP Greater Houston chapter, Abby has benefited from an AFP Young Professionals Membership Scholarship. “After attending AFP Icon, Educational Sessions and connecting with many of the professionals in Houston I knew I had found a professional home,” Abby said. “I am grateful for the membership scholarship that allows me to continue to grow as a fundraising professional and learn as I embark in my career.” National Philanthropy Day helps AFP Houston give deserving fundraising professionals the opportunity to network and gain valuable educational experiences.
