Letter to chapter members:

Dear Association of Fundraising Professionals Greater Houston Chapter Member, 

Since 1969, our chapter has fostered learning, networking, and raising funds for our community. Nonprofit fundraising – a profession of community impact made every day – can be daunting to someone without a network or professional training.

The Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) Greater Houston Chapter has served as that training and network resource for us, encompassing a diverse group of friends, mentors and colleagues from whom we consistently learn and grow in our careers.

Why give to AFP Greater Houston this year?

  • 655 members of our Chapter have connected, networked and shared ideas – all with an unwavering commitment to the highest ethical standards!
  • 1023 people have learned at programs featuring local and national fundraising experts to help you learn and grow at every stage of your career.
  • $5,000 in scholarships have removed barriers to membership and attending fundraising conferences.
  • 20 mentors and mentees have fostered professional relationships.
  • Our chapter formally committed to inclusion, diversity, equity, and access (IDEA).
  • More than 1,000 community leaders celebrated Philanthropy Day and honored 8 philanthropic leaders. 

All of this could not happen without you. Your gift has and continues to make a big impact in the professional development of our colleagues!

  • Leadership Development – which includes AFP LEAD and developing specific programs for leadership development for the fundraising profession.
  • IDEA (Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Access) – which includes diversity scholarships and also programs like the ongoing Women’s Impact Initiative.
  • Chamberlain Scholarships to help fundraising professionals attend the AFP International Conference on Fundraising. 
  • Capacity Building which allows the Foundation to use the funds where they are most needed.

That’s why we’re reaching out – to ask that you consider investing in yourself through this year’s BE the CAUSE campaign. Our chapter goal is $9,000. Our board believes strongly in this investment and as of this writing, 100% of our current Board of Directors has made a pledge or gift to support this year’s campaign. Along with other colleagues who have already made their gifts, we’ve raised 90% of our goal to date!
