ConocoPhillips Named 2025 Houston Business Journal Corporate Philanthropy Award - Large Corporation Winner
Giving back to communities has always been at the heart of ConocoPhillips’ work. In 2024 alone, the company invested more than $72 million in social investments worldwide, including $42.7 million in cash contributions, over 46,400 volunteer hours, and impacting more than 4,200 organizations globally. In Houston, its headquarters city, ConocoPhillips’ commitment is especially visible. In 2024, they contributed $11 million to more than 550 local charities, focusing on education, conservation, disaster relief, and the performing arts. Their Houston Signature Program emphasizes math education as a pathway to graduation and career success. In partnership with the United Way of Greater Houston, the Mastering Algebra Together Houston (M.A.T.H.) program has reached more than 12,700 students over the past decade, with 70% showing measurable improvement. Since 2014, their math education initiatives have impacted more than 1.9 million students and 8,500 teachers across the Greater Houston area. ConocoPhillips has also strengthened Houston’s cultural and environmental landscape. Their conservation investments support initiatives like the Coastal Prairie Conservancy and Houston Wilderness’ Gulf-Houston Regional Conservation Plan, which aims to increase land preservation to 24% across the eight-county region by 2040. For more than 50 years, they have been a proud supporter of Houston’s world-class performing arts community, from the Alley Theatre and Houston Ballet to the Houston Symphony and Houston Grand Opera, enhancing quality of life while bringing arts access to over 700,000 attendees annually. Equally inspiring is how ConocoPhillips empowers its employees to give back. Since 1988, the company has contributed nearly $98 million to the United Way of Greater Houston, combining employee giving with corporate support. In 2024, ConocoPhillips employees achieved a 76% participation rate, raising more than $4 million for Houston neighbors in need. Volunteerism is embedded in their culture, with thousands of hours each year dedicated to local projects, community events, and “Days of Caring” service activities. The company also takes bold steps to address pressing community needs. Through its partnership with the Houston Texans Foundation, ConocoPhillips co-created the Inspire Change Grant, an initiative advancing social justice and racial equity across Houston. Since its launch in 2021, the program has awarded over $1.6 million to 40 nonprofits, fueling projects that expand opportunity and break down barriers.
