FOX 26 Houston Named 2025 Outstanding Communications Partner

The Association of Fundraising Professionals Greater Houston Chapter is proud to honor FOX 26 Houston (KRIV) as the 2025 recipient of the Outstanding Communications Partner Award, to be celebrated at the National Philanthropy Day Awards Luncheon.

FOX 26 exemplifies what it means to be a media partner with purpose. For decades, the station has used its platform not only to inform the public, but also to inspire action, elevate nonprofit missions, and strengthen philanthropy across Greater Houston.

One of their most impactful contributions is the Fox Finding Families segment, produced in partnership with DePelchin Children’s Center since 2008. Each month, FOX 26 dedicates valuable airtime to highlight children in foster care waiting for adoption. Hosted by anchor Sally MacDonald, the segments capture each child’s unique personality in playful, child-centered settings, from art studios to trampoline parks, while also educating the public about foster care and adoption. The result is deeply moving storytelling that has led directly to adoptions, new foster families, and countless acts of generosity.

Another beloved tradition is the station’s 12 Days of Christmas campaign, produced in partnership with BakerRipley, Exclusive Furniture, Walmart, and Chick-fil-A. Each December, FOX 26 spotlights 12 local nonprofits, sharing stories of hope and impact while encouraging year-end giving. Beyond the airwaves, the campaign delivers tangible support, providing furniture, gifts, and necessities to more than 100 Houston-area families. As one partner noted, “FOX 26 doesn’t just cover the news—they become part of the solution.”

The station’s reach and commitment ripple far beyond these two programs. FOX 26 has sponsored fundraisers like Camp for All’s Over the Edge, helping raise $120,000 in 2023. They’ve partnered with Make-A-Wish to grant wishes for children with critical illnesses, supported St. Jude’s Dream Home Giveaway, and dedicated decades of coverage to Children at Risk, with anchor Melissa Wilson lending her time and voice to their mission.

Leadership has been central to this culture of generosity. Under Vice President and General Manager D’Artagnan Bebel, FOX 26 has embedded philanthropy into its newsroom identity. Team members are encouraged to volunteer, partner with causes, and think creatively about how media can spark civic engagement. Whether offering paid volunteer time after Hurricane Katrina, airing worship and educational programming during the COVID-19 pandemic, or donating PSA airtime for local nonprofits, the station continues to lead with heart and purpose.

FOX 26 is more than a broadcaster. It is a convener, connector, and catalyst for good. Its stories and campaigns have helped children find families, supported neighbors in crisis, and inspired Houstonians to give, volunteer, and lead.
