Memorial Assistance Ministries Named 2025 Outstanding Fundraising Program ($2M+)
In 2023, MAM launched its most ambitious initiative yet, the “Growing Our Impact… Together!” campaign, to expand and reimagine its campus in order to meet the rising demand for services. Originally set at $16 million, the campaign far exceeded expectations, ultimately raising more than $21.1 million by early 2025, making it the largest fundraising effort in MAM’s history. The campaign was designed to support transformational projects: a new Resource Center to expand program capacity, a renovated client services building to improve service delivery, and a significant expansion of MAM’s resale store and warehouse to generate more earned revenue and provide affordable goods for the community. Volunteers were at the heart of the effort. Board members and past board members not only gave generously but also guided land acquisition, project planning, and donor conversations. Their example and advocacy opened doors and built momentum that carried the campaign across the finish line. MAM’s campaign success reflects the extraordinary generosity of Houstonians and the vital role MAM plays in stabilizing families, strengthening the workforce, and building vibrant communities. In 2024, MAM provided more than $8.5 million in direct program services, ranging from financial assistance and literacy programs to employment services, mental health support, and immigration assistance. As President & CEO Sonja Gee explains, the campaign was about more than buildings: it was about expanding opportunities for neighbors to thrive. With the new facilities and resources, MAM is poised to serve even more families with dignity and hope. The “Growing Our Impact… Together!” campaign stands as a model for how disciplined fundraising, visionary leadership, and community generosity can come together to achieve transformational results.
